In crude oil separators, desalters, alkali treaters and many chemical reactors you need both total level and the interface between two liquids. The FMP54 with coaxial probe does exactly that – one single instrument gives you reliable overall level AND the interface thickness, even when the upper layer is very thin or the emulsion band changes. No need for two separate devices. Plants love it because installation is simpler and spare parts inventory is lower.
| Min. upper layer thickness | 50 mm |
| Dielectric difference needed | ≥ 2 between layers |
| Accuracy interface | ±10 mm typical |
| Probe type | Coaxial only for interface |
Q: Do I need a coaxial probe?
A: Yes – rope or rod versions can’t do reliable interface.
Q: What if the emulsion band is thick?
A: The transmitter shows the top of the emulsion as interface – exactly what operators want.
